Wife wanted to get out of the house today so we went down to NJ to check out the Asbury Park Comic Con. The trip was worth it as I got a chance to recruit Rudy Nebres, one of the first Filipinos who came to the US in the seventies to work for the American comic book industry along with Nestor Redondo and Tony Dezuniga, whom I had met 20 years ago. Here’s Rudy with his wife Dolores.
Also had a great conversation with legendary artist Jim Steranko about the good old days and how artist and writers get paid roughly the same amount for a comic book, but artists take 4 times as long to draw one as it takes a writer to write one. Here he is posing with the kids who are big “Agents of SHIELD” fans.
Also reached out to Cliff Chiang and Tod Emko. I’m applying what I learned from running a business to producing a comic book – Network and build relationships!
